The first 11 months of any new job can be challenging and it is critical that you as a new employee gain a clear understanding of your new role and the expectations around the job role during this time. The purpose of the probationary period is to provide the University of Limerick with an opportunity to establish an employee’s suitability for the role. It also provides the new employee with an opportunity to fully discuss and understand the role and to receive feedback on their performance.

A probation assessment will be completed with you by your line manager at month 3, month 6 and month 9 following the commencement of your employment with the University. Completed probation assessment forms, signed by both you and your line manager, are returned to the Compensation & Benefits Section once finalised
