I participated in the Aspiring Research Leaders Programme in 2022 and found it to be enjoyable, illuminating, and informative. The programme consisted of several parts including various training activities, networking activities and opportunities to develop a long-term career strategy. The training courses were relevant to a mixture of day-to-day activities and areas I wanted to develop. The focus, not only developing longer-term goals but also strategizing how to make those goals a reality, was of particular significance and value.

Tutors for the programme were engaging, encouraging, and actively worked towards fostering a collaborative and supportive community between participants. I particularly enjoyed the sessions on communication where we were provided with practical tips on managing a broad range of ‘difficult’ conversations. The order of the programme was well thought-out and provided a great mix of personal development and strategic career-oriented thinking. One of the key outcomes of the programme was networking across a diverse range of disciplines from engineering to business to the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance. I’ve been able to develop amazing friendships because of my participation in this programme.

I would strongly recommend this programme to other early-stage researchers. My only regret is that the programme ended.

I really enjoyed attending the Aspiring Research Leaders Programme in 2022. The team did a great job. The course definitely helped me to better plan how to develop the competencies to further my research career.
I highly recommend this program for those researchers who want to develop their leadership skills.

I did the Aspiring Research Leaders programme earlier this year; I have nothing but praise. It was interactive, provided great learning across a range of related topics and fantastic networking with likeminded researchers across a broad spectrum of dept/faculties. It was definitely worth the time invested.
