Welcome to the University of Limerick Website. We endeavor to provide all official University of Limerick websites and content as accessible as reasonably possible to all users. We are actively working to increase the accessibility and usability of our website in accordance to many of the available standards and guidelines.

At a minimum, we will endeavour to comply with EU Web Accessibility Directive 2016/2102 and achieve “Level AA” conformance to the web content accessibility guidelines (WCAG) 2.1.

Known Compliance Issues

Please be aware of the following known compliance issues. These may affect your experience of the website. If you have any difficulty accessing information please contact us.

PDF, Word and Excel format documents

The site occasionally presents information in certain non-W3C technologies such as Portable Document Format (PDF), Microsoft Word (DOC, DOCX) and Microsoft Excel (XLS, XLSX). Certain documents on this site are available in these formats only. This requires you to download and install 3rd party software. Because these documents originate from various sources we cannot vouch that they have been created with accessibility best-practice in mind or that the manufacturer’s accessibility guidelines for using that technology has been taken into account.

Issues with links

We are aware of the following issues within the links on our site:

  • some link text doesn't make sense when read on its own (for example 'click here')
  • on some pages, there are multiple links with the same link text but different destinations on one page
  • many older PDF files contain broken links which do not resolve - we do not intend to resolve these as it is a disproportionate burden for files which are no longer in active use

We scan the site regularly for broken links, and look to fix them as soon as they are identified.
