Course Overview

Do you find it difficult to walk into a room full of strangers and make connections?  Or approach a renowned researcher at a conference? Or make contact with someone you have never met?  Many people find this awkward, yet it is probably one of the more important and useful skills to have as an academic to advance your research strategy.   This half-day session is designed to build on your skills and confidence to network for success as part of your Research Strategy. The focus will be on practical tips and techniques when networking face to face: at conferences, networking events, planned & chance meetings. During this session we will look at the following:

  • ·         Strategic Networking for Researchers
  • ·         Face to Face Networking
  • ·         Telling your research Story – what can you offer?
