Eighteen members of UL Restart visited the renowned Coolmore Stud near Fethard, Co. Tipperary on the 30th April `19. We were privileged to be shown up close world-class stallions such as Galileo, Australia, Caravaggio and Highland Reel to mention a few. Their handlers had such control that we were able to stand right beside them and touch them. They did react positively to the gentle touch of some of the members and had to be withdrawn before the full effect of the ladies perfume had taken effect.

We were walked through the covering procedure and suite. We stood on the grounds where many a famous racehorse was conceived. We did a tour of the Museum and were shown the many trophies that Coolmore has won. We also saw the full life-sized stuffed replica of its founding star Sadler`s Wells. Our host gave us many insights into the breeding industry and displayed an encyclopedic knowledge of the industry. We were given complimentary tickets to the Coolmore sponsored re-opening of the new facilities and race day at the Curragh on Monday 6th May `19.

After all that hard work we enjoyed a lovely lunch in the eclectic surroundings of McCarthy`s Hotel in Fethard. We then went to the Fethard Horse Country Experience Museum and had a guided tour of the adjoining medieval Holy Trinity Church of Ireland. We finished up in the famous Dooks Fine Foods for coffee and pastries before heading for home.

The attached photograph shows the group in the grounds of Coolmore beside the statue of Gallileo. One of our members is taking shelter under the horses head and seems to be drawing. The other photograph is taken in Dooks Fine Foods.
