Monday 08th June 2020 saw the opening of a 68-bed Intermediate Care Facility on the grounds of the UL campus. The UL Hospitals Group Intermediate Care Facility (ICF) is located in the UL Sport Arena. The ICF is a fully staffed and fully equipped Model One hospital facility that will provide care for non-Covid patients who are fit for discharge from any of the acute hospitals in UL Hospitals Group, but who would benefit from further rehabilitation, or maybe waiting to go into long term care.
The UL Buildings and Estates Team played a large role in carrying out and delivering the physical works required for the facility in a short time period. It was an intensive collaboration, involving the HSE Estates Department locally and nationally, contractors and suppliers, Limerick City and County Council, and the Defence Forces.
