Please note: Orientation details for the Autumn 2020/2021 semester will be available here soon.
What Happens at Orientation?
On the first day of your orientation, you will attend a Welcome Address introducing and welcoming you to UL.
During this, you will hear from the President of UL, the Dean of your faculty, the Health and Safety Officer, the First Year Support Coordinator, UL Student Life and the UL Marketing team.
Orientation Guides are current students who will show you and your new classmates the facilities and services available to you as a UL student.
If you have a question or need a bit of advice, your Orientation Guide is the person to ask.
At Orientation, you will attend a meeting with your Academic Department (or School). Here, you will meet the faculty and staff members who will teach and assist you during your studies at UL.
During this information session, you will be given an overview of how the department is structured along with information about the Personal Advisor Support System (PASS) operated by UL.
At the Degree Course meeting, your course director will give you an overview of your course and take you through your lecture, tutorial and lab schedules.
You will also be told about module electives and module registration. If you have any questions about the course, your Course Director is the person you should ask.
Certain courses require students to undergo Garda Vetting/Police Clearance on entry. See table below for courses requiring Garda Vetting.
Students will be sent the relevant forms and instructions for the vetting process prior to Orientation Week and are required to complete all forms as instructed and bring them to the Student Vetting Session during Orientation.
