Aircraft Leasing Ireland (ALI) has announced the #funding of a new research project on #Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) production. The Bernal Institute, University of Limerick and Trinity College Dublin are in #collaboration with the SAF research project. The four-year #research project will examine realistic avenues for manufacturing sustainable #aviation fuel (SAF) in Ireland.
The primary focus of the study will be to identify how Ireland can establish a sustainable and viable supply chain for SAF #rawmaterials, while also proposing scenarios in which a substantial quantity of SAF can be produced efficiently on the Island. Scheduled to commence in 2024 it will be spearheaded by Director Luuk Van der Wielen of the Bernal Institute and Professor of the University of Limerick and Bernal Institute member Professor Vivek Ranade in the University of Limerick, along with Associate Professor Stephen Dooley and Assistant Professor Mohammad Reza Ghanni of Trinity College Dublin.
