Jagdeep is a Postdoctoral Researcher in the multiphase Reactor and Intensification Group (mRING). Prior to joining the UL, Jagdeep worked as postdoctoral fellow at SQU, Muscat, Oman for 1 year. He has completed his Ph. D program at the Department of Polymer and Process Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IIT-Roorkee), India in 2021. He has completed his Masters in Environmental Science and Engineering in 2015 from Indian Institute of Technology Dhanbad (IIT Dhanbad), India, and his Bachelors of Biotechnology in 2012 from Odisha University of Technology and Research, India. His Ph.D. thesis was based on waste to energy theme, titled "Bioremediation of domestic and industrial wastewater for bioelectricity generation using photosynthetic microbial fuel cell, where his objectives were to optimize the major operational parameters to enhance the efficiency of PMFC. In addition to that, he also successfully coupled carbon dioxide (CO2) sequestration to grow algae which are produced from the anaerobic digestion of wastewater. His previous postdoc work was on novel design of Microbial desalination cell to recover maximum chemical from saline water and maximizing biogas production using conductive materials assisted anaerobic digestion from food waste. His current research focuses on the development of a cavitation-based pre-treatment process for digestate to maximise yield of biogas and other products.
