On Wednesday, 22nd November 2023, Dr. Darina Slattery (School of English, Irish, and Communication) was awarded a Failte Ireland Conference Ambassador Award for bringing the IEEE Professional Communication Conference (ProComm) to the University of Limerick in July 2022.

The awards ceremony took place in the Intercontinental Hotel in Dublin. Dr. Slattery was the President of the IEEE Professional Communication Society from 2021-2022 and she currently serves as the Immediate Past President.
