The Journal.ie did a feature piece on the controversial 'woman in the home' provision of the Constitution yesterday. The piece quotes research by Dr Laura Cahillane on Article 41.2 in relation to the drafting of the provision. Dr Cahillane is also quoted, explaining how the provision has never been of any use in law and so deleting it would not lead to any loss of rights. However, a stronger form of wording could lead to concrete rights. The piece looks at the various reform options including the recommendations of the Citizens' Assembly published last year to bring a referendum based on a new stronger form of wording which Dr Cahillane was involved in drafting.
