The popular Culture Shocked! exhibition was featured in the Limerick Voice, the Limerick Leader and Limerick Post following its launch last month. The event which is open to the public until 30 June 2023 in the Bourne Vincent Gallery is currently receiving the visits of local DEIS schools of the Academy for Children. During tailored-made workshops, pupils are using Visual Thinking Strategies (VTS) to enable them to engage with the comics depicting cross-cultural incidents and are encouraged to share their own personal anecdotes. You can see their visual and/or textual testimonies of intercultural encounters at the entrance of the art gallery. These comprise anecdotes about food (French snails), customs (confused drivers on Irish roads), and language (Polish, Spanish, etc) to name a few.
