The language building
Friday, 2 February 2024

The School of MLAL, in conjunction with the European Commission, hosted a talk by Rian Murphy on becoming an interpreter at EU institutions on Friday 2 February in LC1016. This was a fantastic opportunity for students to hear about interpreting as a career from one of our graduates.

Rian Murphy is from Limerick and graduated with a First Class Honours from the BA in Applied Languages at the University of Limerick (studying French, German and Irish) in 2018. He then went on to complete the MA in Conference Interpreting at the University of Galway and has been working as a staff interpreter with DG Interpretation of the European Commission since June 2020. He interprets from Irish, German and French into English.
