American Name Society’s prestigious award for the 2021 Best Article of the Year

“Developing the Gaois Linguistic Database of Irish-language Surnames” an article co-authored by Aengus Ó Fionnagáin with colleagues in DCU has been chosen to receive the American Name Society’s prestigious award for the 2021 Best Article of the Year (delayed due to Covid).

Each year, this honour is bestowed by an international team of onomastic experts to the one article which they determine to have made the highest and most significant contribution to the scholarly investigation of names and naming.
