UL’s research and knowledge transfer activities span all of its faculties and disciplines. UL's research successes are enhanced by the ongoing development of interdisciplinary research institutes, centres & units, and collaboration with international academic and industrial partners. UL currently has two multidisciplinary institutes, Bernal Institute and the Health Research Institute (HRI), together with two Research Ireland Centres, SSPC, Research Ireland Centre for Pharmaceuticals and Lero, Research Ireland Centre for Software, along with a number of other national externally-funded research centres.
