CONTEXT

Name of Creator: Dance Resource Base.

Administrative History: Dance Resource Base is the premier non-profit organization, which supports the dance community in Northern Ireland. It provides facilities and resources and advocates the raising of the profile of dance in the North.  Dance Resource Base was incorporated and registered as an independent company in 2006 following a process of consultation with the dance sector.  It is a membership organization and is run by a board of governors who are elected annually by company members.  It is an annually supported client of the Arts Council of Northern Ireland.

Immediate Source of Acquisition: Donated by Dance Resource Base on 17 October 2011 to the National Dance Archive of Ireland.

 

CONTENT AND STRUCTURE

 

Scope and Content: Reports, newsletters, publications, and promotional material reflecting the activities of Dance Resource Base, as well as the work of the touring dance companies that perform in Northern Ireland.

Appraisal, Destruction and Scheduling Information: All records have been retained.

Accruals: Accruals are possible.

System of Arrangement: Documents have been arranged into four series according to their form and thereunder chronologically by date.

Conditions Governing Reproduction: Standard copyright regulations apply to all items.  For photocopying or reproducing material, please consult with the staff.

Language/ Scripts of Material: English.

Physical Characteristics and Technical Requirements: Mostly paper documents in good condition.  Item N34/4/2/8/3 requires a DVD-player.

Finding Aids: A hard copy of the descriptive catalogue is available at the Special Collections and Archives Department, Glucksman Library, University of Limerick.
