School of Law:

LLM/MA (Human Rights in Criminal Justice)

Judge Michael Reilly Scholarship: 33% fee waiver open to an Garda Síochána.

2x 33% fee waiver open to an Garda Síochána.

LLM (International Commercial Law)

50% fee waiver.

Eversheds, Solicitors: The international corporate law firm offers a very generous scholarship to the student registering for the LLM with the highest undergraduate degree award.

LLM Funding 50% fee waiver (2 Scholarships available):

The School of Law offers a half-fee waiver award to one candidate on the LLM (General) and one candidate on the LLM (International Commercial Law) degrees.

School of Modern Languages and Applied Linguistics

5 x €1000 fee waivers for taught MA programmes (EU Applicants only). As part of the award, the successful candidates must complete two hours of teaching per week per semester.

Roche Continents – Youth! Arts! Science!

Roche Continents – Since 2007, Roche brings together young, talented students from European universities to experience a unique journey exploring sources of inspiration at the intersection of science and art, and challenge the boundaries of their thinking.

Chosen by a nomination and selection process, 60 students from a wide range of scientific fields of study and various arts disciplines are given ample opportunity to engage with renowned scientists and artists, to be exposed to provocative scientific research, study contemporary artworks and visit exhibitions, and to participate in workshops and interact with other students.

Fee waiver

A limited number of full and/or partial fee waivers for research students at MA and PhD level. Distributed on an annual basis, the decision will be made by the Academy Director.

RTÉ Lyric FM Scholarships

The RTE Lyric FM Scholarships were established in 1999 in support of the MA Classical String Performance at the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance, University of Limerick. The aim of the scholarship is to support young talented string players who wish to study at UL. Since the scholarship was established in 1999, it has been awarded to students from Ireland, Australia, Malaysia, China, Hungary, Romania, Spain, Italy and the US. Recipients may be required to engage in work at the Academy, aimed towards professional development while making a valuable contribution to Academy life.

Universal Music UK Sound Foundation Bursary

Universal Music UK Sound Foundation is an independent music education charity, established in 1997 to celebrate the centenary of EMI Records and now generously supported by Universal Music. The foundation’s aim is to improve access to music education in the UK and in Ireland. A bursary was made available to students of Community Music, Irish Music Performance and Music Education at the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance. Patrons: Nick Mason CBE, Sir Paul McCartney, Yoko Ono, Sir Simon Rattle, Sir Cliff Richard, Diana Ross and Tina Turner.

Stepping Stones Scholarship

3x €1,000 general scholarships for IWA students on taught MA programmes. Students must have a demonstrable record in a performance and/or academic specialisation relevant to a programme of study at the Academy.

Stepping Stones Scholarships for Non EU student. These scholarships target international students on taught MA programmes at the Academy who have a demonstrable record in performance and/or academic specialisation relevant to a programme of student at the Academy.

Sionna PhD Scholarships

The Sionna PhD Scholarships are offered by the Irish World Academy to incoming (accepted) and first year PhD candidates. 

PCC Scholarship

As part of its commitment and support of the cultural experience at University of Limerick, particularly in the performing arts, Campus Life Services is offering a PCC scholarship to the value of €5000 towards accommodation to an undergraduate student of the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance, University of Limerick. This scholarship is only available for applicants of the BA Irish Music, BA Irish Dance, BA World Music, BA Voice, and BA Contemporary Dance. Campus Life Services aims to support students in residence to enjoy the best student living experience and get the best out of campus life. Campus Life Services, formerly Plassey Campus Centre (PCC), has also generously made an allocation of two residential scholarship places to support a number of postgraduate research students over the last number of years.

Edith and Leslie Downer Entrance Scholarship - €1,000 pa.

MSc Nursing Studies programme €3,000 to each student.

BSc Nursing Studies programme €1,500 to each student.

Psychology

Details relating to scholarships and bursaries that may be available will be advertised on the Department of Pyschology's website.

The Global MINDS programme is co-funded by the European Union through the Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters programme.  There are two types of scholarships available in each intake:

•             10 full scholarships that cover the participation costs and a stipend of 1400 EUR per month throughout the duration of the programme

•             15 partial scholarships that cover the participation costs

In order to be considered for an Erasmus Mundus scholarship, applicants should include a request for funding and relevant justification in their supporting statement.

Education and Health Sciences - Research

EHS Fee Waivers/Scholarships for Structured PhD/Masters and Research PhD/Masters for all EHS disciplines depending on Funding availability.

Sports Scholarships

The UL Sports Scholarships are designed to support top athletes in pursuing and excelling in their sport while also undertaking academic study at the University of Limerick.  

The scholarships are open to all current, full time, UL students or those who are applying to come to UL for the first time either through CAO or transferring at undergraduate or postgraduate level.  Applicants must be a member of a national governing body of sport recognised by the Irish Sports Council, in the sport in which they are applying for a scholarship.

We have a number of partial merit-based scholarships. Once you submit an application for a programme, you are automatically reviewed for scholarship. If you are eligible for scholarship, you will receive the decision at the same time as your offer decision. Please see here for information on our various scholarships.
