New Women in Aviation International Scholarship Programme Announced for the Kemmy Business School at UL

The new Women in Aviation International Scholarship programme is a partnership agreement between Women in Aviation International, UL’s Kemmy Business School (KBS) and the University of Limerick Foundation.

The initiative allows for the awarding of 11 scholarships for female students enrolled in the Professional Diploma in Aviation Leasing at the KBS, which is the first level 9 university-accredited programme in Ireland tailored for the Aviation Leasing sector.

The four major objectives of the module are:

To provide an insight into the key elements that shape today’s air transport system.

To understand the direction and scope of the multifaceted airline business.

Analyse and conceptualise big picture issues both inside and outside the industry.

To enable students to implement their academic knowledge to effectively manage the complex aviation industry and manage change

Learning outcomes:

Cognitive:                                                                                                             

Interpret, assess and critically evaluate the airline industry and its interrelationship to its suppliers such as leasing companies, airports, etc.                    
Examine the key challenges that airlines face and have an understanding of the major strategies that can be deployed as they compete in such a hypercompetitive post Covid environment
Describe why deregulation has changed the competitive landscape of the airline industry and how it has adapted itself in its new environment 
Investigate and assess new challenges that are now facing the industry such as environmental issues

Affective:

Acknowledge and appreciate the difficulties that management incur when implementing strategic fixes                                                                                                    
Demonstrate an appreciation of the intricate complexities that govern the airline industry
Discuss and justify the strategies adopted by senior management                                                        
Judge the future direction of the industry

Assessment:

There is no final exam for this module.

You will be assessed through 1-2 continuous skill-based assignments, provided by your lecturer.

Entry Requirements:

The programme is open to managers and supervisors from a variety of disciplines or those aspiring to a managerial role with three to five years organisational experience in a relevant field. 

Completion of an NFQ level 8 qualification or equivalent is required.

Entry requirements are established to ensure the learner can engage with the course material and assessments, at a level suitable to their needs, and the academic requirements of the module. By applying to this micro-credential, you are confirming that you have reviewed and understand any such requirements, and that you meet the eligibility criteria for admission.

Successful completion of this module does not automatically qualify you for entry into a further award. All programme applicants must meet the entry requirements listed if applying for a further award.

HCI Micro-Credential Course Learner Subsidy - Candidates who satisfy the eligibility criteria can qualify for 50% funding subject to the availability of places. To clarify eligibility please go to Eligibility Criteria
