University of Limerick has been ranked in 152nd place in the first-ever Europe University Rankings by global higher education analysts Quacquarelli Symonds (QS).

UL’s strong commitment to excellence in teaching, research and collaboration and quality student education have been reflected in the rankings for 688 institutions across 42 different locations.

QS rated UL highly across all indicators with the University placed 46th in Europe (and first in Ireland) for Inbound Exchange Students and ranked 87th for International Faculty.

It was also ranked within the Top 150 for Employer Reputation and Sustainability.

The ranking examined universities against 12 indicators in the overarching areas of Research and Discovery, Employability and Outcomes, Learning Experience, Global Engagement, and Sustainability.

These latest rankings reinforce the strengthening position UL has globally within the sector.

In June, UL jumped more than 100 places to be ranked 426th in the QS World University Rankings, while Time Higher Education ranked UL as the 86th best university in the world for delivering on the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Welcoming the announcement UL President Professor Kerstin Mey said: “Ranking 152nd in the first-ever Europe University Rankings by QS is a testament to the exceptional work happening at University of Limerick. It reflects our unwavering commitment to excellence in education, research, and collaboration. While we celebrate this achievement, we remain dedicated to the journey ahead, working tirelessly to climb higher, innovate further, and continue our pursuit of academic excellence.

"University rankings serve as beacons of excellence and a guide for prospects to join us at UL where research and our focus on sustainability are transformed into real-world impact, the student journey is enriched with knowledge and opportunities, and graduates are equipped with the skills and resilience needed to thrive in the ever-evolving global job market.”
