Strengthening relationships in areas of research and university partnerships were just some of the topics discussed when University of Limerick President Professor Kerstin Mey met with H.E. Ms Florence Ensch, the ambassador from the Embassy of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg during a diplomatic visit to the UL campus.

Focusing on the exploration of potential future opportunities for exchanges and broadening collaborations between University of Luxembourg, Research Institutes and University of Limerick, Ambassador Ensch said that she was “delighted to visit University of Limerick and meet with President Professor Kerstin Mey and her colleagues to hear about the already existing relationship between UL and the University of Luxembourg and to explore ideas for potential new collaborations in education and research.”

Ambassador Ensch also met with VP Global and Community Engagement Professor Nigel Healey and Dr Puneet Saidha, Director Research Support Services where she heard about UL’s areas of interest in research and the existing ties with Luxembourg through student exchanges and the Erasmus projects.

During her visit, Ambassador Ensch explored some of the newest additions including the Memorial Garden opened earlier this summer during UL’s 50th anniversary celebrations

“The campus is very impressive. I also appreciated the opportunity to exchange briefly with a recently arrived postgraduate student from Luxembourg and learn about the positive experiences they had during orientation week at UL.”

UL and embassy officials said they will continue to work together to broaden ties with University of Luxembourg and beyond to help expand the strong political, economic, and cultural bonds.
