Applying for a place on a university programme is a big step for your future – so congratulations on making the decision. The application process is fairly straightforward, though it varies depending on whether you’re applying for a Taught Programme, a Flexible Learning Programme, a micro-credential or an Apprenticeship Programme.

Closing dates for applications
EU applicants
Closing dates for application for Autumn 2026 is 13 August.
Early application dates, where applicable, will be noted on the relevant programme webpage.
However, early application is advisable as many programmes will close in advance of this date or when all available places have been filled.
Application closing date for programmes commencing in Spring 2027 is 5 January 2027.
Non-EU applicants
The autumn application deadline for non-EU visa-required applicants is 1st July 2026. Applications received after this date will not be considered. To check your country requirements, please refer to the Immigration Service Delivery Visa and Non-Visa Required Countries document at irishimmigration.ie.
Refer to Citizens Information website for information relating to applicants from non-EU countries that do not require a visa to study in Ireland.
