Biography

Professor Amanda Cotter graduated from Trinity College Dublin in 1994. She initially worked in Ireland and was an Assistant Master at the Coombe Women's Hospital from 1998 until 2001. She then completed a three year Maternal Fetal Medicine fellowship at the University of Miami.She was appointed Consultant Obstetrician and Specialist in Maternal Fetal Medicine in 2004 at the University of Miami/ Jackson Memorial Medical Center where she specialized in obstetric ultrasound, prenatal diagnosis, management of multiple gestations and care of women with complex obstetric problems including infectious diseases.She returned to Ireland in 2011 when appointed Professor and Chairman of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the University of Limerick, based at the University Maternity Hospital Limerick.Her clinical interests include:

  • Obstetric Ultrasound Prenatal Diagnosis (CVS, Amniocentesis, fetal blood sampling)
  • Infectious Diseases in pregnancy
