Biography

Prof Walker holds the Bernal Chair in Pharmaceutical Powder Engineering at UL and is a Visiting Research Professor at QUB. His interersts are in pharmaceutical engineering, process engineering and mathematical aspects for materials processing.

Prof Walker is Co-PI of SSPC the SFI research centre for pharmaceuticals
Prof Walker is Academic Lead of EI funded Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Technology Centre (PMTC)
Prof Walker is Academic Lead of EI funded Dairy Processing Technology Centre (DPTC)
Prof Walker is Project Lead of SFI Funded Centre for Smart Manufacturing (CONFIRM)
Prof Walker is Director of H2020 MSCA Co-Fund PROCESS

He has been awarded >35,000,000 Euro as Principal Investigator on >35 research projects on process engineering and advanced manufacturing from EU H2020, UK government, EPSRC, Irish Government, UK Charities and Industrial sources.His research team currently consists of 22 Post-docs and 12 research students focusing on engineering aspects of pharmaceutical manufacturing.

Professor Walker h
as been awarded>€26,000,000 as Principal Investigator on >35 research projects associated with advanced manufacturing from EU, UK government, EPSRC, Irish Government, UK Charities and Industrial sources.

His research team currently consists of 22 Post-docs and 12 research students focusing on engineering acepcts of pharmaceutical manufacturing.

He is a member of the editorial advisory board for 5 major international journals and is Associate Editor for Chemical Engineering Journal and Chemical Engineering Research and Design. He has >165 international journal publications (h-index = 33, >4700 citations, Scopus).
Prof Walker has 5 patents and is Scientfic Director of two university spin out companies "ADFerTech" from Queen's University Belfast (www.adfertech.com) and "Innovative Particle Processing, iP2" from University of Limerick.
