Biography

Professor Deirdre McGrath is Head of the School of Medicine at the University of Limerick, Ireland and also works clinically as a Respiratory Consultant with the Lung Cancer Service at University Hospital Limerick . Her key clinical interests are in the area of Lung Cancer, Sleep Breathing Disorders and Interstitial & Granulomatous Lung Disease.

Professor McGrath is one of the Founding Principal Investigators of the School of Medicine's "4i", the Centre for Interventions in Infection, Inflammation and Immunity and is Medical Adviser to the University of Limerick's Optical Fibres Sensors Research Centre with research interests including aspects of lung immunity and inflammation and the clinical application of medical devices. Her medical education research interests include assessment, e-learning and the student experience.

Professor McGrath has received recognition for her achievements to date having been awarded Fellowships of the Royal College of Physicians of London and of the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland.
