Biography

Professor Pierce Grace is an Adjunct Clinical Professor at the School of Medicine and an Associate Fellow in the Department of History at the University of Limerick, Ireland. He is a retired consultant general and vascular surgeon at UL Hospitals, Limerick (1996-2014) where he was Chief Clinical Director from 2012-2014. He was also a tutor in anatomy at the UL School of Medicine (2014-2020).

His key research interests are currently on the history of medicine in Ireland with an emphasis on the experience of health, medicine, illness and disease during the medieval period. He was previously active in medical research (surgery/vascular surgery/bio-engineering) and medical education (surgery and anatomy).
