Rhoda is a Senior Technical Offcer in the PESS department with the title Experimental Officer. She began this role in August 2006. She provides research and health and safety support to the department. In addition, Rhoda assists the Head of Department with marketing and promoting the research output and activities of the department through social media. Rhoda joined the PESS department in August 2002 as a Research Officer for a research partnership set up between the PESS department and the HSE. She has a BSc. Exercise & Sports Science, (University of Limerick, 1998) and a MSc. from the University of Limerick (2001). Rhoda is currently undertaking a PhD part-time under the supervision of Prof. Ann MacPhail and Dr. Ciaran MacDonncha
Rhoda is currently undertaking a PhD in the area of family determinants of physical activity of children. One area of interest for Rhoda's research is the Irish longitudinal research survey called Growing Up in Ireland data. In addition, Rhoda is interested in the promotion and measurement of physical activity in different settings (e.g. physical activity promotion, intervention and evaluation across the different settings. She is a member of the multidisciplinary team in UL who have set up an exercise referral programme, called MedEx UL.
