Biography
Rhoda is a Senior Technical Offcer in the PESS department with the title Experimental Officer. She began this role in August 2006. Rhoda has a responsibility to support staff, research groups and students with research related tasks, promote research in the department, compile research metrics, and generate research reports for the department. She is the Grant Manager for an EU COST Action, Determinants of Physical Activity in Settings (CA19101) since 2021 and provides research support to the Sport and Human Performance Research Centre at the University of Limerick. Prior to her role as a Technical Officer in the department, Rhoda was a Research Officer for a 4 year research partnership set up between the PESS department and the Health Service Executive (Mid-West). She has a BSc. Exercise & Sports Science, (University of Limerick, 1998) and a MSc. from the University of Limerick (2001). Rhoda has a PhD (completed in UL in 2024) in the area of the role of the family and parent in the socialisation of children in Physical Activity.Research Interests
Rhoda is currently undertaking a PhD in the area of family and parental determinants of physical activity of children. One area of interest for Rhoda's research is the Irish longitudinal research survey called Growing Up in Ireland data. In addition, Rhoda is interested in the promotion and measurement of physical activity in different settings (e.g. physical activity promotion, intervention and evaluation across the different settings.Professional Activities
