Biography

Dr. Purtill is a lecturer in Applied Statistics in the Department of Mathematics & Statistics at the University of Limerick. Her research interests include latent class and clustering methodologies, population studies, observational data, randomised control trials, study and measurement design. Dr. Purtill is a founding member of the Ageing Research Centre, Health Research Centre and is the principal statistic on the Irish Rugby Injury Surveillance (IRIS) project. She also collaborates on industry projects through the Mathematics Consortium for Science and Industry (MACSI) and interdisciplinary projects with collaborators in the School of Allied Health, Graduate Entry Medical School, Physical Education Sport Science, Business, Engineering and Science.

Research Interests

Dr. Purtill's current research area is statistical profiling in longitudinal population studies such as Growing Up in Ireland (GUI) and The Irish LongituDinal Study of Aging (TILDA). She also has considerable research experience in the design and analysis of randomised control trials, meta-analyses, validity and reliability studies, power calculations and sample sizing for clinical and observational studies.
