Biography

I am an Associate Teacher in the Department of Psychology, and also a Student Designated Contact Person, supporting students who have or are currently experiencing incidents of sexual harassment and sexual violence. Some of the course boards, steering groups and committees I am involved in include, the Consent Framework Policy Review Group, Sexual Health and Wellbeing, the MA and Diploma in Psychology. Currently, I teach clinical, biological, broadening and introductory courses in psychology and supervise student projects at undergraduate and postgraduate level.

Research Interests

I am one of a group of researchers that operate out of the Health & Psychophysiology Laboratory here in UL with our main purpose being to advance the science of stress and health. My own research interests lie in stress, mental health, and well-being. I am particularly interested in how trauma in early childhood impacts biological, behavioural, social, and psychological development, and in examining factors that may potentially act as a buffer against the effects of early life stress (e.g., social support, coping). I have a further interest in understanding the associations and interactions between biobehavioural factors (such as addiction, personality, stress) and in adopting a clinimetric approach to understand the cumulative burden of stress.
