Dr. Patrick Buckley
Biography
Dr. Patrick Buckley is a Lecturer in Information Management in the Department of Management and Marketing, Kemmy Business School in the University of Limerick. He has a primary degree in Computer Science and was awarded in his doctrate from the University of Limerick in 2011. He has lecturered in Information Management, Decision Making and Software Engineering at both the University of Limerick and the Limerick Institute of Technology. His primary research focus is the use of prediction markets as a decision making tool to improve organisational effectiveness and efficiency. His work has focused on the practical application of prediction markets in areas such as risk management and project management. He has presented at numerous international conferences and has been published in peer-reviewed journals such as "Information Systems Frontiers", "Business Horizons", '
Patrick's other research interests also include the pedagogical use of technology, with a particular focus on addressing the challenges of large group teaching and prompting active learning. He has won the Jennifer Burke Award for Innovation in Teaching and has co-edited a book entitled 'Technologies for Enhancing Pedagogy, Engagement and Empowerment in Education: Creating Learning-Friendly Environments' and peer reviewed journals such as '
