Jill is currently a Lecturer at the Department of Nursing and Midwifery, Faculty of Education and Health Sciences at University of Limerick. She is also Course Director for the Certificate in Nursing (Nurse/Midwife Prescribing Programme). She led the interdisciplinary team in the design, development and facilitation of the first nurse/midwife prescribing programme in HSE West. She qualified as a Registered General Nurse in Limerick Regional Hospital receiving the Chief Executive Officer Prize from the Irish Minister for Health Mr. Michael Noonan for highest exam results. She has extensive clinical, managerial and educator experience in the disciplines of general nursing, nationally and internationally. She is a graduate of Trinity College Dublin (MSc in Gerontological Nursing), University College Cork (Post Graduate Diploma in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education) and is currently a PhD candidate at Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh, United Kingdom.

Her research interest is in the complexity of health and social care systems for ageing populations whilst maintaining dignity for the individual older person. She is currently developing 1) Appreciative Inquiry model of dignity with older persons in residential settings, adopting a stakeholder centred approach that may enable collaborations within older person’s residential settings both nationally and internationally and 2)The development and pilot of transfer documentation for older people being transferred from residential to acute care.
