Use the checklist below to help you to prepare for graduation day and to ensure that the day is an enjoyable and memorable occasion for you.
We recommend that graduands do not take phones, cameras or bags with them into the ceremony.

Doctoral Candidates: Please note you will be contacted separately with a link to sign up for a dress rehearsal prior to your ceremony. The rehearsal is compulsory and you must wear your robes. Please ensure you have confirmed your attendance at a rehearsal prior to the ceremony

You are required to confirm your attendance / non-attendance via the online registration link which will be sent to you by email to your UL student email account from ceremonies@ul.ie. Students who choose not to attend our live conferring ceremonies will be conferred in absentia. All Graduands will be emailed details about their graduation ceremony to their UL student email and listed personal emal account from ceremonies@ul.ie.

If you do not register for your graduation via the link provided before the stated deadline, You will not be allowed to attend your graduation ceremony, and will be conferred in absentia
If you do not attend your ceremony, a hard copy of your parchment will be posted to your registered postal address held by Academic Registry. We highly recommend that you complete the In-Absentia form to update your preferred postal address.
It is important that you check your postal address recorded with Academic Registry for accuracy and update before graduation. See instructions to update your personal details on Student Hub Online.
Each graduand will receive two Guest Tickets for their ceremony. Requests for extra tickets will only be processed on the day of the ceremony. The Concert Hall box office will provide additional tickets on a first come first served basis. There will be no waiting list for extra tickets to be issued.
Children are allowed to attend the Conferring Ceremony, however they will count as part of your two allocated guest tickets, not in addition to the amount.

Due to the implementation of a personal 3D secure password during the credit card payment process on https://www.phelanconan.com Phelan Conan Ltd staff are no longer able to take bookings over the phone. This has been created to protect your online payments and if you don’t already have a 3D secure password you can activate it by following the simple instructions during the booking process. If you experience any further problems with 3D secure process, please contact your bank.
Graduands are free to source robes independently if the gown and colours conform fully to University of Limerick standards.
NameCoach is a tool that allows you to record your name pronunciation prior to your conferring ceremony. This ensures your name is pronounced correctly by the name caller as you collect your parchment on-stage.
An email is issued to all registered graduands inviting them to record their name on NameCoach.

Please note that freelance photographers may be on campus on the days of conferring. Do not use any of the unofficial photographers who may be on campus. Each year, some graduates complain of non-delivery of photographs or of poor-quality work by these photographers.
The ceremony lasts between an hour and 15 minutes to an hour and 30 minutes.
When you arrive on UL Campus on the day of Conferring you should proceed directly to EG-010 to collect your academic robes from Phelan Conan. Students must then proceed to the Basement of the University Concert Hall to be lined up for their ceremony in order.
As this is a time consuming process, we require all students to be in the Basement well in advance of their Ceremony Start time (10:00am for Morning ceremony, 14:00pm for Afternoon Ceremony). If you arrive after this time you may be denied access to the Ceremony and will be conferred in Absentia.
If you cannot attend your conferring ceremony, you will be conferred in absentia.
PhD graduands are permitted to defer graduation once, and only until the following conferring session.
Unfortunately, non-PhD graduands cannot defer their graduation.
Have you paid all fees, cleared all debts to the University (including outstanding library fines) and returned all books to the library? You must do so by May to be eligible to graduate in June, by July to be able to graduate in August and by December to be able to graduate in January.
Your parchment will be presented to you at your graduation ceremony.
Academic Registry will also send an email to all graduates with a link to access the digital copy of UL parchment following your graduation ceremony.

Students who have outstanding fees payments have their Parchment held by the Fees Office and will receive a Blank Parchment informing them to contact the fees office.
Car parking will be available on campus each day for attending graduands.
Yes. We will be providing light refreshments for all returning graduates and staff on the day. This will be provided in the University Concert Hall Atrium after your event.
Yes. Parchment Framing will be available to all students on the day. The service will operate in EG-010 (Ground Floor of the Main Building).
