The Destination College/ Mincéir/ Traveller Programme works in partnership with local secondary schools, education providers and community based projects to ensure that students from socio-economic disadvantaged backgrounds have the opportunity and support to fulfil their educational potential and aspirations by breaking down the barriers that impede upon their access to, and participation in, 3rd level education.

The programme seeks to achieve this by offering potential students:

  •  In-school peer mentoring
  •  Community mentoring
  •  Academic Support
  •  Campus tours/ Shadowing days

A Parent and guardian support programme is offered to include information on:

  • HEAR
  • CAO
  • SUSI
  • Financial supports
  • Alternative routes to University

Mincéir/ Traveller Programme:

The programme co-ordinator will co-create, with the Mincéir/Traveller Community, a dedicated suite of pre and post entry supports to further increase the participation and retention of Mincéiri/Travellers in our HEIs. These supports will be designed and developed from the perspective of Mincéiri/Travellers, in a culturally inclusive and accessible manner.

Students who Transfer to University are offered;

  • One to One support meetings
  • Financial aid through Bursaries and Scholarships.
