It is wonderful to see Professor Ann Ledwith and Graduate and Professional Studies receiving EU funding for a number of initiatives designed to upskill and meet the training needs of SMEs.  They include the REBOOT project (€685,202), led by Professor Martin Hayes and Ger Carroll, which brings together a novel mix of education providers and professional organisations from five countries – Finland, Sweden, Ireland, Belgium and Italy - to deliver a bespoke upskilling model of advanced digital skills-based training that will jointly empower workers and the manufacturing industry at this critical time for the European manufacturing industry ecosystem. It also includes the EAGLE project (€293,287), also led by Professor Martin Hayes and Ger Carroll, which is designed to deliver high-quality specialised training courses (six courses in total), reflecting the latest developments in key capacity areas (Cybersecurity, Big Data, Robotics Blockchain and Smart Energy), supporting the development of advanced digital skills of people in the labour force, with a focus on SMEs, both for managers and employees. The DocTalent4EU (€181,000), which is led by Dr Ger Downes and Ger Carroll, has recently acquired over €181,000 in funding under the Horizon Europe Call, ‘Developing an effective ERA talent pipeline.’  UL is part of a consortium with seven other European universities which secured a total of over €1.5 million under the Call to enhance PhD employability by improving transferable skills training and developing local talent management centres.
