The University of Limerick’s Special Collections and Archives department is delighted to launch a new online research guide: Opening a Window to the Past.

The resource centers on digitised versions of three diaries held in the University of Limerick’s archives.

Opening a Window to the Past is designed to assist students and researchers at all levels with their research. Five lessons have been created which provide practical tips on visiting the archives, advice on how to approach historical research, and guidance on reading and transcribing archival sources. There is even a game to test your transcription skills!

The resource was created by Dr Kirsten Mulrennan (UL Special Collections and Archives) and Dr Rachel Murphy (Department of History).  It was funded by the National Forum for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning in Higher Education under its Strategic Alignment of Teaching and Learning Enhancement (SATLE) Fund.
