As the urgency to address climate change and sustainability challenges intensifies, the need for professionals who can lead meaningful environmental and societal transitions continues to grow.

University of Limerick’s new MSc in Sustainability and Climate Futures has been developed to prepare professionals to respond to these emerging challenges.

Designed for graduates from disciplines such as environmental science, geography, architecture, engineering, and related fields, the programme offers an opportunity to specialise in sustainability-focused practice and expand career opportunities within emerging green sectors.

Participants will engage with key areas including:

  • Climate Risk and Resilience
  • Sustainability Thinking
  • Landscape and Visual Impact Assessment
  • Innovative responses to climate and biodiversity challenges

Through a curriculum that combines advanced theoretical knowledge with practical application, students will develop the skills required to respond to complex sustainability challenges in real-world contexts.

Graduates of the programme will be prepared to explore how societies and organisations can transition towards more sustainable, resilient, and equitable futures, supporting innovation and evidence-based decision-making across policy, planning, design, engineering, and environmental consultancy settings.

Through the MSc Sustainability and Climate Futures, UL continues to advance education and research that address global sustainability challenges and contribute to Ireland’s transition to a low-carbon, climate-resilient economy.
