The Department of Accounting and Finance at the University of Limerick offers undergraduate, master's and professional programmes in accounting, finance, insurance, risk management, tax and financial analytics.

Our programmes combine strong academic foundations with applied learning, digital capability and an international outlook. Students develop the technical, analytical and professional skills required to build careers in business, financial services, insurance, taxation and data-driven roles, while addressing key challenges such as sustainability, risk and technological change.

Master's Programmes (Level 9)

Our master's programmes are designed for graduates who want to deepen their expertise, develop specialist skills and prepare for professional and international careers in a rapidly evolving business environment.

MSc. in Finance
Develop advanced knowledge in financial analysis, corporate finance, capital markets, risk management, derivatives and financial regulation, alongside data-driven approaches to modern finance.

MSc. in Accounting
Prepare for a career in professional accountancy through advanced study in accounting, auditing, taxation and financial reporting, with strong alignment to professional accreditation pathways.

MSc. in Insurance and Risk Management
Gain specialist expertise in insurance and risk management, with a focus on real-world decision-making and emerging risks, including climate, financial and technological risks.

MSc. in Machine Learning for Finance (online; 2 year Part-time)

Professional Diploma in Aviation Leasing and Finance
Develop specialist expertise in aviation finance and leasing, a globally significant sector with strong links to Ireland.

Professional Diploma in Contemporary Taxation

Professional Diploma in Financial Analytics

Undergraduate Programmes (Level 8)

Our undergraduate programmes provide a strong foundation in business, accounting, finance and law, combined with practical experience, international exposure and career-focused learning.

Bachelor of Business Studies
A flexible business degree covering accounting, finance, economics and risk management. Students choose a major from Year 2 and complete an eight-month work placement.

Bachelor of Arts in International Business
Combine business studies with languages and a strong international focus, including opportunities for study abroad and global work experience.

Bachelor of Arts in Law and Accounting
A joint honours degree combining law and accounting, with strong professional relevance. Includes an eight-month work placement and access to professional exemptions.
