It is such a privilege to have been invited to be part of the UL Human Right, equality, Diversity and Inclusion (UL HREDI) streering committee to work toward the new UL HREDI Strategy. The work started in 2023 with Dr. Marie Connolly asking co-funders Michelle O'Donoghue and Cristiano Storni to join the HREDI steering committee. Soon after, we were invited to join the HREDI working group meeting forthnightly to develop and redact the new UL HREDI strategy 2025-2028.
The Human Rights -EDI Steering Committee (SC), as a sub-committee of the Executive Committee, actively led the implementation of the University’s Human Rights EDI Strategy. This was accomplished through the development, execution, and regular review of comprehensive action plans to align and integrate with sub-committees, working groups, and the Human Rights-EDI risk register under the 4 pillars of Gender Equality, Inclusive Campus, Diversity and Inclusion, Sexual Health & Wellbeing. The committee now establishes and monitors key performance indicators (KPIs) to track measurable progress, promote accountability, and drive continuous progress toward achievement of strategic objectives. Where necessary, the SC will seek support and approval from the Executive Committee to advance initiatives effectively. As Autism@UL Special Interest Group we continue to work toward raising awareness and create initiative for a more inclusive campus.
