Employers and self-employed people can apply for a grant to make their workplace more accessible for staff with disabilities. This grant is called the Workplace Equipment Adaptation Grant (WEAG) and is provided by the Department of Social Protection. The funding is only available to people in the private sector.
The maximum grant is €6,350. The funding can be used for:
- Minor building alterations (such as ramps or modified toilets)
- Alarm systems with flashing lights
- Voice synthesisers for computers
- Amplifiers for phones
- Adapting or buying equipment
- Upgrading old equipment
- Training people to use the equipment
