Professional Diploma in Climate Adaptation and Sustainability

UL Geography offers a Professional Diploma in Climate Adaptation and Sustainability. It aims to arm participants with the key geographic knowledge about our environment and ecosystems - the services they provide us, and the hazards we face from them - and consider how our society can be more sustainable. It also provides participants with key digital skills in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software to enable them to independently analyse problems and propose solutions.

Sustainability and Climate Futures - MSc

The MSc Sustainability and Climate Futures is designed to develop the next generation of leaders capable of pioneering climate solutions, fostering sustainability transitions, and driving innovation for a better future.    

It is designed for graduates of related disciplines such as environmental science, geography, architecture, engineering or similar who wish to specialise and expand their opportunities. 

Study topics to help you develop innovative responses to climate challenges including topics such as Climate Risk Resilience, Sustainability Thinking and Landscape and Visual Impact Assessment.

Micro-credential in Sustainability

This part-time, 6-week micro-credential will introduce the concept of sustainability, examining where limits to space, infrastructure, and resources may cause problems as populations continue to grow, and exploring practical options to plan for a more sustainable future.

Micro credential - Landscape Visual Impact Assessment (LVIA) - Module GY6002

This 7-week online micro-credential commissioned by GreenTech Skillnet Ireland, and developed by the University of Limerick in collaboration with relevant Industry, introduces learners to Landscape and Visual Impact Assessment (LVIA) for renewable energy projects, particularly wind farms.

Participants will gain skills in applying industry-standard guidelines (e.g. GLVIA), using spatial tools like GIS and remote sensing, assessing landscape and visual receptors, and developing mitigation strategies.
