Unite University of Limerick Branch

  • The University of Limerick (UL) recognises UNITE as the only trade union on campus and recognises UNITE the Union represented by UL-UNITE as the sole representative of all UNITE members in respect of employment related matters.  
  • Currently UL-UNITE has approximately half the UL workforce in membership.
  • A general meeting of the Branch is held once every two years at which the Officers and Executive Committee Members are elected. 
  • The Chairperson, Convenor, Treasurer, Equality Officer and 8 other elected members make up The Branch Executive Committee.
  • The Branch manages a small part of the Union's finances.
  • The Branch is entitled to send 5 delegates to the Regional Industrial Sector Conference (RISC Education)
  • The Executive Council and the Ireland Executive Council both keep the Branch informed of changes and activities in the wider organisation.
  • The Branch is entltled to nominate delegates to the Union's Annual Conference, which is the Union's supreme decision taking body. It proposes motions to committees and conference and follows them through the procedural process.
  • The Branch is also involved with the general Trade Union movement in the surrounding area.
