University of Limerick alumnus and Dell Technologies Chief Financial Officer David Kennedy has shared insights from his almost three-decade career, including the importance of continuous learning, embracing new opportunities and staying curious in a rapidly changing workplace.

A Limerick native, David's relationship with Dell began while studying Business at University of Limerick, when he completed his co-operative education placement with the company. He returned to Dell as a graduate in 1998 and has since held leadership roles across Ireland, India and the United States, before being appointed Chief Financial Officer in 2025.

Speaking to UL Alumni, David reflects on a career he describes as a "windy road", shaped less by a carefully mapped-out plan than by a willingness to learn and take on new challenges.

He also shares practical advice for today's graduates, particularly as artificial intelligence transforms the workplace. While he believes graduates will increasingly be expected to use AI effectively, David emphasises that communication skills, critical thinking and the ability to develop a point of view will remain essential.

His reflections also touch on leadership, the impact of international experience and his continuing connection to University of Limerick and its alumni community.
