Mental health challenges in pregnancy and after birth are common, and compassionate, informed support can make a major difference.

This twelve week, Level 9, micro-credential helps nurses, midwives and health and social care professionals build the confidence to recognise and respond to perinatal mental health needs.

You’ll explore how perinatal mental health affects women, infants and families and how trauma, birth experience and identity can shape a person’s recovery. You’ll also learn to apply trauma-informed, family-centred approaches when supporting women during and after pregnancy.

Whether you work in maternity care, mental health or community services, this module will give you theoretical knowledge and practical tools to support safer, more inclusive care.

This module is associated with the Perinatal Mental Health - MSc. It can be taken as a standalone micro-credential or as part of a pathway to a larger award.
