Designed for experienced professionals, this Level 10 programme blends academic rigour with practical relevance. With a strong focus on solving real-world problems, it recognises that significant research takes place within the practitioner’s workplace.
While equivalent in status and challenge to a PhD, this DEng programme is tailored for those solving highly complex problems in their own sectors in a highly innovative way.
Ideal for professionals who want to apply research-driven thinking to real-world challenges, evaluate emerging practices, and contribute new knowledge within their field.
Before starting the Doctorate, all participants will first complete a 12-week qualifier module to identify the problem of significance for their industry. This forms the basis of the Professional Doctorate study.
Developed in partnership with Lero, the Research Ireland Centre for Software, this is Ireland’s first Level 10 Doctoral programme qualification offered as an apprenticeship.
During this programme, you will

- Develop the practical and academic skills to research the identified problem.
