The Master of Science in Nursing (Dementia Care) is a Level 9 programme designed for registered nurses who want to specialise in person-centred care with and for people living with dementia. The programme equips nurses with the knowledge, clinical exposure, and competencies needed to support individuals living with dementia and their families.
Designed for registered nurses, the programme offers a blended and flexible learning approach with on-campus, online and workplace learning.
The programme provides opportunities for nurses to progress to specialist and advanced roles.
During this programme, you will
- Explore best practice in comprehensive assessment, monitoring, coordinating, and managing care with and for people living with dementia.
- Develop the competencies to meet the needs of people living with dementia, from diagnosis to end-of-life.
- Explore therapeutic interventions, ethical decision-making, and multidisciplinary collaboration, while developing leadership skills to manage and improve brain health promotion and dementia care service delivery
- Review current innovations and developments in leading and managing change in dementia care practice.
- Undertake 500 hours of supervised clinical practice, applying learning in practice settings and developing specialist dementia nursing care competencies under expert guidance.
