Do you want to formalise your qualifications to teach maths at post-primary level?   

UL’s two-year, part-time Professional Diploma in Mathematics for Teaching will support you to meet the Teaching Council subject requirements for post-primary Mathematics   

This tailored programme supports the national Teacher Supply Action Plan by upskilling ‘out-of-field’ maths teachers and improving standards in maths education.

A partnership of Higher Education Institutions across Ireland has been established to deliver the course, with teaching and tutorials taking place in a centre that suits you in UL, TU Dublin, Marino, MTU, ATU, SETU or University of Galway. 

This programme is fully funded by the Department of Education and Youth.

During this programme, you will

  • Attend your local centre to complete maths tutorials and maths pedagogy workshops.
  • Complete workshop tasks, essays and projects to advance your maths pedagogy.
  • Compile a professional inquiry portfolio that can be maintained and updated throughout your teaching career.
  • Complete a series of 10 maths modules, all delivered online
