Community Engagement - Professional Diploma

The Professional Diploma in Community Engagement is a graduate-level diploma designed for professionals working in community contexts and third level who wish to develop their engagement skills.
Over 11 months, you’ll work directly with local communities to address real-world needs through collaborative project work.
You’ll be part of a diverse team, designing and delivering a community-based initiative that responds to an identified community challenge. The programme blends academic learning with practical experience, helping you build skills in engaged research design, delivery and evaluation.
This programme will earn 30 ECTS credits which will allow you to progress to the MA Community Research or towards a Flexible Masters Pathway, allowing students to combine Postgraduate awards to achieve a Master’s over time.
During this programme, you will
- Engage in community or university partnership projects that are reciprocal, beneficial, and goal-oriented
- Collaborate with community partners to address identified needs
- Work in inter-disciplinary teams on real-world challenges
- Learn through lectures, workshops, hands-on activities, and guided research
