The MSc Applied Social Data Analytics offers graduates a distinctive masters at the intersection of social science and data science.

The programme has been designed for social science graduates who want a interdisciplinary qualification in two high-demand fields - behavioural insight and data analytics.

The programme is built around hands-on technical skills, teaching you to code in R, analyse real-world data and apply network analysis methods. No prior coding experience is required.

By graduation, you will be able to process, visualise and interpret complex social data, skills that are increasingly sought after across industries from tech and media to public policy and healthcare.

An independent research project will support you to complete a data analysis and communicate findings clearly and think across disciplinary boundaries.

During this programme, you will

  • Develop fluency in R programming for data processing, visualisation, and statistical analysis, with no prior coding experience required.

  • Apply advanced research methods and statistical analysis to address research questions in quantitative social science.

  • Learn to conceptualise social phenomena in terms of networks and apply network analysis methods using specialised R packages.

  • Design, conduct, and report an independent research project that applies data science techniques to a social science question.
