About the program

Global-MINDS is a unique Erasmus MUNDUS Joint Master Degree program which provides an opportunity to get a joint degree in the field of Social and Cultural Psychology.

During the 2-year program, students gain first-hand intercultural experience while studying in at least two Partner Universities, complete a summer school where they receive additional knowledge and skills, participate in a 300-hour internship, and write a research-based M.A. thesis. The master course is designed to deliver high quality international training in scientific knowledge on themes of extreme social relevance, including diversity and inclusion, global mobility and acculturation, and migrant health. Thanks to the international component, the breadth of topics, and the combination of theory and practice, the Global-MINDS program in Social and Cultural Psychology is unique among social sciences programs available around the world.

According to the mobility map (see mobility path diagram below), Global-MINDS students start either at ISCTE-IUL (Lisbon, Portugal) or SWPS (Warsaw, Poland). They then spend their 2nd semester at one of the other two Partner Universities (Ireland or Norway). Three mobility paths, focusing on societal issues, ensure that students experience the highest level of diversity in regard to cultural, socioeconomic, academic conditions and educational contents.

  • Mobility Path A, Culture & Diversity:

Semester 1 at ISCTE-University Institute of Lisbon (ISCTE-IUL), Lisbon Portugal

Semester 2 at University of Limerick (UL), Limerick, Ireland

  • Mobility Path B, Mobility & Society:

Semester 1 at SWPS University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Warsaw, Poland

Semester 2 at University of Oslo (UiO), Oslo, Norway

  • Mobility Path C, Inclusion & Health:

Semester 1 at SWPS University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Warsaw, Poland

Semester 2 at University of Limerick (UL), Limerick, Ireland

At Global-MINDS students will receive a thorough training in subject skills as well as intercultural skills – assets that are indispensable in today's global knowledge economy and multicultural working environments. They will also be trained to better understand the role of intergroup relations and culture in society, developing competent and innovative interventions in order to address a wide range of complex social issues in contemporary societies. Students will be engaged in experiential intercultural learning in the classroom as well as during a required internship. This type of knowledge is indispensable, as it simply cannot be taught; and when integrated into a formal degree program, becomes even more valuable because of the opportunity to discuss and reflect on experiences in a safe environment.
