Sionna Seminar: Book Launch: The Making of the Dominican Liturgy and its Chant

Dr. Eleanor J. Giraud, Dr. Carrie Griffin, Cantoral Ensemble

In April 2026, Cambridge University Press published The Making of the Dominican Liturgy and its Chant by Eleanor Giraud (Irish World Academy of Music and Dance). The book considers the making of the Dominican liturgy and its chant from two perspectives: first, the material production of Dominican liturgical books, and second, the crafting of a unique Dominican liturgical tradition. To mark its publication, Eleanor will share some of the key findings from the book, Dr. Carrie Griffin will offer responses to the book, and Cantoral will perform some chant and polyphony associated with the Dominican tradition. A light reception will follow.

Admission is free and all are welcome.
