How do I register/apply?
Download the application form available on the Apply page. Fill it in and return it to the Blas Director by email at the address listed.
Do I have to send payment immediately with my application form?
No, the Blas team will first review your application and make sure you are a good fit for the programme. We may write back with further questions, or send you the good news that we would be happy to offer you a place. Once you receive confirmation of your acceptance, you can then transfer payment.
Is funding available?

What is the climate like in Ireland?
It will hard to predict the weather, but it is normally mild. We don’t expect snowstorms or severe frost. We don’t expect a heat wave either. Bring clothing to suit mild temperatures, some wet weather & some hot weather. For more information: www.ireland.com

What are the internal distances on campus at the University of Limerick?
The Irish World Academy is on the North Side of Campus and right next to the Pavilion restaurant. Students can easily walk to the main part of campus in 10 minutes using the Living Bridge.
Is there internet access?
Free internet access is provided to Blas students in the college library and free Wi-Fi is available in the Irish World Academy.
How do I get to Blas?
Check our contact us section for a map to the Irish World Academy. We are accessible from Limerick City by Bus Éireann’s 304 line, which goes approximately every 15 minutes, and Dublin Coach’s 310 line, which goes every 30 minutes.
What is the currency in Ireland?
The currency in Ireland is the Euro. There are ATMs on campus. For exchange rates, try: www.xe.com/
What is the age limit for Blas?
The minimum age for participation in Blas is 16.
Should I bring recording equipment?
Yes, it would be a good idea to have recording equipment of some kind, mobile phone, Dictaphone, etc. However, please note that permission to use recording equipment during class or Blas concerts is at the tutor’s/artist’s discretion and should not be assumed.
Do I need to bring my own instrument?
Yes. We do have a few bodhráns (Irish frame drum) available for student’s use during Blas.
Are towels and bedding provided in the accommodation packages?
Yes. The accommodation also has TV, fridge & cooking facilities as standard. Check the accommodation page for more details.
Can I book accommodation in local hotels/B&B’s through Blas?
Blas only provides booking facilities for accommodation within the accommodation packages listed on the accommodation page. If you wish to stay in other accommodation please feel free to book this yourself. Visit www.limerick.ie for links to local accommodation.
